Community Projects

Every year, ASID selects a project for community outreach. Giving back to the community is important to us. Changing the interior of a space can have a huge impact on it’s inhabitants. Knowing that we can help people in this way is great part of why we enjoy our profession. Working with a charity is really wonderful because it allows us to help people that may not otherwise work with a designer.

This year, we have chosen the Pasadena Senior Center. This center is a place where many people come to learn, socialize and eat. Approximately 400 people visit the Senior Center every day. It is well known in the area as a lively place to congregate with friends and learn something new. The center offers many classes on everything from art to yoga. They believe that retirement is a time to be active and enjoy .

The main room of the facility is the Scott Pavilion. Many classes are held here and they regularly offer lunch. It is also used as a church on Sundays and rented out for retirement parties, birthdays , weddings and other events. This room is the main focus of the renovation and has received quite a makeover. New floor, new paint and storage. This room is quickly becoming an elegant place that is multifunctional and gives a whole new look to the center. We were also able to paint the remainder of the public rooms, adding some life and more visual interest to the space.

Stop by and take a look at the transformation, listen to the piano or take a class while you are there too.
